Software Developer
Job Summary
As a Software Developer for Sheakley UniService Inc, you will play an integral role in the design, testing, and maintenance of our software systems. The applications allow the various business units to be more efficient and support our clients. The business units include Workers' Compensation, Unemployment, Accounting, Workforce Management, Absence Management, Safety, Pension and Flexible Benefits.
Responsibilities will include writing and coding various applications, providing an entirely new software resource, and modifying "off the shelf" software.
Job Description - Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in C#.NET or VB.NET
- Strong knowledge of SQL with the ability to write complex queries in an RDMBS environment
- .NET Framework 3.5, 4.0
- Visual Studio .Net
- Familiar with:
- SSIS
- Crystal Reports
- SSRS
- NET, HTML5, CSS3 or previous versions
- Ability to review programming request, clarify any items needed, implement and test changes
- Experience with the full software development lifecycle
- Familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming and Design
- Work 40 hours a week and occasional weekends or evenings as needed to meet the business needs and deadlines
Soft Skills:
- Communication skills: You will need effective listening and speaking skills in order to convey instructions to colleagues who are working on projects you are overseeing.
- Interpersonal skills: Since software developers are part of a team, they must be able to get along and work will with others.
- Analytical and Problem Solving skills: The former will allow you to determine users' needs and the latter to troubleshoot problems that occur during the development life cycle.
- Detail Oriented: You must be able to pay careful attention to multiple parts of the systems and applications on which you are working.
- Creativity: As a developer, you will have to come up with ideas for new applications and systems.
- Take Direction: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, take direction from Operations Manager, and learn the business processes.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 3 years working experience developing, testing, and implementing Microsoft .NET applications.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field
