Return to Work Specialist
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of High School education or equivalent.
- Previous customer service experience.
- 1 year of previous Workers' Compensation related experience preferred.
- Typing speed of 50-60 WPM.
Requirements:
- Attention to detail, flexibility, and strong ability to multi-task.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and production requirements.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Medical Terminology or equivalent experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly reports to the Return to Work Specialist Team Leader.
- Responsible for entering initial claims in UniComp system when necessary, completing initial and subsequent calls to employer, provider, injured worker, and Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) as appropriate while documenting the results of gathered information.
- Responsible for complete follow-up on claims including gathering any additional necessary information on return to work, missing claims master fields, continued treatment, etc resulting in transferring claims to Case Manager or case closure when appropriate.
- Responsible for processing and indexing Medco's and all necessary communication for all parties in order to update the claim
- Responsible for facilitating return to work (RTW) by communicating with the employer, provider, injured worker, and BWC as appropriate.
- Responsible for gathering complete information on all mandatory field requirements to ensure transmission to the BWC.
- Responsible for obtaining additional medical information and/or C9s to assist Case Managers.
- Responsible for completing follow-up on all subsequent documents for potential claim updates and communicates any claim updates to the employer.
- Responsible for proactively and aggressively pursuing a safe and timely RTW for all managed claims thereby positively impacting MOD.
- Responsible for providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Responsible for assisting other Return to Work Specialists, Claims Review Specialist and Case Managers as needed.
- Responsible for re-opening claims when injury re-aggravation or additional medical treatment occurs.
- Required to meet team quality, productivity, and optimal RTW standards.
- Responsible for maintaining and developing team work with all departments of UniComp.
- Demonstrates and promotes Sheakley Core Values.
- Other miscellaneous duties/projects as assigned by Management.
**Non-clinical personnel are prohibited or restricted from performing clinical activities or interpreting clinical information.**
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to answer high call volume while maintaining accurate system notes.
